Don K. Rice

Managing Partner

Mr. Rice, a founding partner of Capital Point Partners, has a background encompassing mezzanine and equity investing, lending, operating management, investment banking, and security analysis. Mr. Rice was a founding partner of Rice Capital and subsequent entities Rice Sangalis Toole & Wilson and RSTW Partners, along with Mr. Sangalis, in 1989. He has been involved in more than 70 transactions with investment values of approximately $1 billion. Prior to Rice Capital, Mr. Rice was also a founder of its predecessor entity, First Texas Merchant Banking Group ("FTMBG"), a firm providing mezzanine financings. As President/CEO of FTMBG, Mr. Rice was responsible for overseeing investing activities, hiring and training the firm’s investment professionals. Mr. Rice has also served as Vice President with PruCapital, Inc. (Prudential Insurance Co.) and as Regional Director (mergers and acquisitions) for E.F. Hutton Corporate Finance. He has also been active in operating management as President and CEO of a transportation company and a chemical disposal company. In addition to serving as Chairman, director and/or advisory director on numerous portfolio companies, Mr. Rice has or is currently serving as a director of the Houston Private Equity Association, The Association for Corporate Growth, the University of Texas School of Business Advisory Council, and the City Year (Americorp) organization. He is also currently serving on the Board of Directors of NationsHealth, Inc. Mr. Rice received his B.B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of Texas, Austin.
